Basena maintains team that beat Egypt

Uganda Cranes interim coach Moses Basena has maintained the starting team that edged Egypt 1-0 at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole last week.

Cranes face Egypt today evening in the return leg of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers at Arab El Borg stadium in Alexandria.

Uganda's long winless run against  Egypt came to an end last week as Emmanuel Okwi scored the only goal in the 51st minute as Cranes moved top in group E with seven points, one above Egypt.

Ghana and Congo-Brazzaville are third and fourth in the group with two and one points respectively. The two sides are currently playing the return leg.

Egypt are seeking to qualify for their third time in the FIFA World Cup while Uganda will be making its first appearance if they make it next  year in Russia. The Pharaohs have participated in the 1934 and 1990 World Cup finals.

In the last 19 appearances between Uganda and Egypt, Uganda has only won two games and three games have ended in draws while Egypt has registered 14 victories.
