Uganda to host 2018 Africa Junior Chess Championship

Excited about the development, the former UCF general secretary, Chris Turyahabwe applauded the great work by his former collegues.

​The Uganda Chess Federation has secured the rights to host the 2018 Africa Junior Chess Championships.

Africa Chess Confederation treasurer Stephen Kisuze and the President Africa Zone 4.2 as well as former UCF president Vianney Luggya were instrument in securing the rights at a meeting in Harare, Zimbabwe at the ongoing Africa Schools Individual Chess championships.

Excited about the development, the former UCF general secretary, Chris Turyahabwe applauded the great work by his former collegues.

"I must commend the good job by Kisuze and Luggya. We should have such opportunities much more often. Hosting such an international event  does not just elevate Uganda, it also brings the competition closer to us where by, most of our junior players easily get exposure," he said.

In 2016, Uganda hosted the Africa Individual Chess Championship  and the Zone 4.2 Africa Chess Championship in 2014.
