Mutesi takes Miss Earth Crown

Mutesi’s victory has qualified her to participate in Miss Earth International contest in Philippines, in November.

Josephine Mutesi Nabirye is the winner of this year’s Miss Earth Uganda Beauty Contest. The 23-year-old aspiring pharmacist defeated 13 other contestants during the pageant’s grand finale at Nanjing Restaurant and Motel in Kololo, Kampala on Friday.
Mutesi’s victory has qualified her to participate in Miss Earth International contest in Philippines, in November.
Speaking after being crowned, Mutesi pledged to mobilize young people in Uganda and elsewhere in the world, to champion the promotion and preservation of the environment through afforestation and proper waste management.
Mutesi will now represent Uganda at Miss Earth International Beauty Pageant in Philippines, in November (2017).
Mutesi competed as a representative of Iganga. Monica Abuko, a contestant from Soroti, took second position. Laura Lebu (Miss Adjumani) and Sharon Namugenyi (Miss Luweero) took third and fourth positions, respectively.

Victoria Nabagereka, the Director of Miss Earth Uganda, said that the beauty pageant was basically intended to entice the youth to participate passionately in the protection and preservation of the environment.
The contest ran under the theme: Beauty with a cause.
