Former Uganda Cranes captain Ibrahim Sekagya and Express FC Coach Matia Lule have been added to the Cranes technical team ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Egypt.

"Basena made the request to have both Lule and Sekagya to reinforce the technical team so that Fred Kajoba concentrates on the goalkeeping area. FUFA honoured Basena's request and we believe the new additions will be of great value to the Cranes,"FUFA spokesperson Ahmed Hussein said.

Both Lule and Sekagya will be on the national side on an interim basis for the two Cranes' games against Egypt. Lule started work with national side today while Sekagya is expected to jet into the country on Sunday to join the team.

Cranes host Egypt in the first leg on August, 31, at Mandela National stadium, Namboole before traveling for the return leg on September, 5, at Arab El Borg stadium in Alexanderia City.

Uganda is placed in Group E with Egypt, Ghana and Congo Brazzaville. Egypt top the group with six points, followed by Uganda, Ghana and Congo with four,one and zero points respectively from two games so far played. ​
