German foreign minister Gabriel in Uganda trip

The foreign minister of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel (pictured) flies into Uganda for a trip.

Gabriel will visit the Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement in Ofua Zone in Arua district.

During the visit he will view a water system project run by Malteser International in the area. He will meet students and staff of primary schools in the area and hand over some sports equipment.

He will also meet representatives of German Development Cooperation sector and the Uganda -South Sudan South Sudan South Sudan Cross Border Radio Network supported by Deutsche Welle Academy working in the district.

A statement from the German Embassy in Kampala said the visit intends to commend Uganda for her generous refugee policy which stands out as an exemplary unique practice and which stands out as an exemplary unique practice and deserves Germany's support and recognition.

The minister, who is expected to meet President Yoweri Museveni and his counterpart minister of foreign affairs Sam Kutesa, will encourage Uganda continue engaging strongly in the East African Minister region.
