Lawrence Sebuliba scored a hat-trick as the Rugby Cranes humbled Zimbabwe 38-12 in their final Rugby Africa Gold Cup match on Saturday at Legends.

Sebuliiba, who has struggled throughout the Gold Cup campaign, was in inspired form and he was quick to thank his coaches and team-mates for standing by him after collecting his deserved man-of-match award post-match.

Tries from Byron Oketayot, Sebuliba, Aaron Ofoyrwoth and Phillip Wokorach helped Uganda to a 26-12 halftime lead. Sebuliba added two tries after the recess with Wokorach successfully converting one - he had three others in the first period.

The win ensured John Duncan's Cranes finished the Gold Cup in third, 10 points behind champions Namibia and three behind Kenya.

Uganda's next major 15s calling comes next year with the World Cup qualifiers.
