Three primary schools set for NSSF-KAVC International

The players from the three schools will have a chance to watch some of the big matches during the tourney

Samaritan, St. James and Sunrise primary schools volleyball teams stood out in the one-day NSSF-KAVC International Volleyball Primary Schools Tournament on Sunday and will now face-off in the finals due August 19-20 at Lugogo.

The three schools came top in the one-day grassroots tournament which attracted 22 teams from 7 primary schools.

According to Edgar Karungi the organizing committee chairman the tournament was a precursor to the two-day annual KAVC International Volleyball tournament due at Lugogo, August 19-20.

Enthusiastic kids including beginners showed a lot of potential in the event not only aimed at exposing young talent but also exposing the young ones to other clubs and different stakeholders, and to continuously interest grassroots talent for nurturing into national potential.

The players from the three schools will have a chance to watch some of the big matches during the international competition, learn a few tricks before fighting out for trophies in the U-12 and U-14 boys and girls categories.

Some of the outstanding players from the three schools included; Peterson Elinino, Josephine Nakimera, Bernard Lukyamuzi, Ivan Akankumunye, Mercy Namutebi and Hajara Nabukenya.

Participating teams included St. James PS, Rema Junior School, Samaritan, Superior Junior School, Sunrise and Bright Primary school alongside the, Giants, Superb, Tido and Elites teams.
