THE Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura has instructed recruitment of over 2400 crime preventers to deal with the frequent murders and other crimes in Nansana,  Wakiso district.

He later addressed the police and crime preventers at Nansana municipality offices.

According to Kayihura, every ten homes will be monitored by four crime preventers, who will work closely with the police for quick response if there is any suspicion.

He however, pointed out that the crime preventers must be residents of the area and well-disciplined.

Kayihura further ordered police to patrols using motorcycles at all times.

He blamed police officers for failure to ensure security in the area yet they have the people's support.

"You must respect the police uniform because it represents the state and if you are got extorting money from the people, then you will be punished," he warned.
