DEATH

KAMPALA - Radio personality Mulindwa Muwonge died at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala on Wednesday.

He had been the station manager for Star FM as well as an on-air presenter.

Muwonge died of hypertension at Nsambya, where he had been hospitalized for the last one week. He breathed his last at around midday on Wednesday, according to his family.

Sumaya Muwonge told New Vision that her elder brother was a great father figure and a hardworking man.

"It is sad. I have lost a father," she said.

He won 'so many battles'

Muwonge's boss at Star FM, Charles Bwanika Ssensuwa, has described him as an intelligent man who had fought so many battles.

"I cannot write the book of my life without mentioning Mulindwa. He is the one who introduced me to radio. He is one person who would call me every day to find out how I am doing. He had so many battles, but he won them because of his wisdom. It is really sad," said Ssensuwa.

He revealed that Muwonge had just finished his law course at Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) and was due to sit his Law Development Centre (LDC) entry exams next month on August 1.

"He had just finished his law degree. God why him? He was happy for his new career path," said Ssensuwa.

'I have lost a friend'

Connie Nalugwa, one of Muwonge's wives, was overwhelmed by the news of her husband's death.

"I have lost a friend, I want to talk but I cannot," she said.

Muwonge has been described as a "consummate, passionate and respectable media personality."

A vigil was held his home Wednesday in Nalumunye in Mutundwe.
