No one will be allowed to move any animal without a permit issued by authorities

Kyere Sub County in Serere district has passed a by-law on movement of domestic animals.

According the law, authorities will be carrying out daily operations in the sub county with the aim of ending animal theft which has become rampant in the area.

John Esadu, the LC3 chairperson said no one will be allowed to move any animal without a permit issued by authorities.

He however, warned LCs against issuing permits to individuals without verifying whether the animal a person is intending to sell is his or not.

"Issuing movement permits without verifying whether the person is the rightful owner of the animal has made it easy for thieves to steal animals and easily take them out for sale" he said.

Clare Asunyo the Kyere Parish chief asked locals to ensure that they report guests who visit their respective areas to LCs.

She noted that most people are reactant to introduce their guests to the LCs.
