KCCA workers dragged to court over theft

Eight Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) staff were yesterday dragged to court for allegedly breaking into a shop.

Yesterday, the two parties; the complainant and the eight defendants (accused) appeared for hearing at the Law Development Centre (LDC) court, Makerere before the grade one magistrate George Watyekere to answer charges of committing a felon of theft

 



The accused are Wiberforce Waligo, Abdallah Kibugo, Henry Mutiibwa, Peter Kivumbi, Shafik Mukembo, Michael Ssendi,Joshua Ssekabira and Abdallah Matovu

Prosecution led by Jaclyne Nandulya alleges that, the accused on December 13, 2016 at USAFI market at Kisenyi , Kampala district broke and entered into the office of Willy Kiwanuka Ssentongo with the intension to commit a felon of theft.

On the same day they stole two loud speakers, safe containing money $41,000, car log book and other vital documents belonging to Ssentongo.

Prosecution presented five witnesses in court to testify against the accused persons and was ready to proceed but counsel to the accused was unable to proceed with no sound reasons.

Counsel representing the accused failed to cross examine the first witness saying that he was not ready to proceed and asked the magistrate to adjourn the case.

The case was adjourned to July 13, 2017 for the next hearing.
