INTERNATIONAL DAY IN SUPPORT OF VICTIMS OF TORTURE
KAMPALA - It was a day out for Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) together with groups such as Human Rights Network Uganda (HURINET-U) and Coalition Against Torture, who did a peaceful procession Monday to commemorate the International Day in Support of Torture Victims.
The event is marked every June 26 to 'speak out against the crime of torture and to honor and support victims and survivors throughout the world'.
Parliament Speaker Rebecca Kadaga flagged off the procession, which was led by a band, in the heart of Kampala.
