Rugby Cranes coach says preparations have hit top gear

The South African tactician believes his troops’ are fighting hard for starting places.

The Rugby Cranes preparations for the Elgon Cup got into high gear on Monday with players taking part in intensive drills at Legends Rugby Club under the guidance of coach John Duncan and his assistant Robert Seguya.

Philip Wokorach, Ivan Magomu, Brian Odong, Scott Oluoch, Asuman Mugerwa,Justin Kimono and Marvin Odong were among 40 players that took part in the day's session.

Coach John Duncan expressed the hunger his side have for a game he believes the squad has greatly prepared for.

"Preparations started early. We set up our camp as early as March and we've got a squad of up to 40 players to choose from," Duncan said.

The South African tactician believes his troops' are fighting hard for starting places.

"The competition in the squad is impressiveand players are pushing themselves for starting positions. Kenya has always been our rival and this is a local derby with pride on the line but we are at home and we have to take the contest to them" Duncan added.
