Buses ferry pilgrims from Lira to Kampala

MARTRYS' DAY

Some 500 Lira pilgrims Thursday morning set off from Uganda Martyrs Cathedral Lira for Namugongo for the Uganda Martyrs Day celebration due this Saturday.

The Christians left their homes on Monday and gathered at Uganda Martyrs Cathedral Lira.

They boarded buses destined for Kampala, at a fee, to join thousands of other pilgrims in celebrating the lives of 22 Christians who were killed because of their faith.

At exactly 6:00 am Thursday, the travelers were set.

Rev.Fr. Leone Okello of Lira Cathedral Parish blessed the pilgrims during a morning mass before they set off from Lira.
