Masajja wins Martyr Musa Mukasa competitions

The musical fete was one of the activities for the celebrations of Musa Mukasa Day, the Anglican Martyr who was speared to death by King Mwanga of Buganda on May 25, 1886.
Masajja Church of Uganda Choir is the champion of this year's Mengo Archdeaconry Music Competitions. They were declared champions during the finals of the competitions, which were held at the shrine of Musa Mukasa at Mulungu, Munyonyo, on Sunday.
The musical fete was one of the activities for the celebrations of Musa Mukasa Day, the Anglican Martyr who was speared to death by King Mwanga of Buganda on May 25, 1886.
The competitions also attracted choirs from Churches like Ndejje, Munyonyo, Kibiri, Katwe Martyrs, Kabowa, Kibuye and Namasuba, which comprise the Archdeaconry. Katwe Martyrs Church was recognized for bringing the highest number of participants. They were given a bull in appreciation.
Further to the musical gala, the Christians also competed in games like soccer, netball, sugar-cane eating and religious quiz. The Sunday school kids were also not left out. They competed in making dolls out of banana fibers.
The Archdeacon of Mengo, Venerable John Gitta Kavuma thanked the Christians who participated in the competitions. He said that such healthy competitions strengthened the solidarity of the Christians, further to helping them understand better their faith.
