Buganda royal institute crowned champions

We as FUFA are committed to promoting of football in this country and we shall continue supporting this league

Buganda royal institute were finally crowned champions of the inaugural tertiary institutions and colleges football league that ended last month.

The Institute beat Jimmy Ssekasi catering institute, Multitech institute of Business and accounting in the home and away league but were delayed to be crowned champions pending disposal of complaints and petitions at FUFA.

However, on Friday FUFA deputy CEO Humphrey Mandu handed over the trophy to Buganda royal institute at the school campus in Mengo.

He assured the league organisers of FUFA's commitment to support the tertiary institutions as a way of developing talents in the country.

"We as FUFA are committed to promoting of football in this country and we shall continue supporting this league and in a bigger way next year," Mandu stated.

 

The chairman of the league organizing committee Richard Kasule urged the heads of institutions to give their students the opportunity to exercise and promote their talents.

"The big challenge we have got is institution heads not accepting to participate in these competitions claiming that sports take money," Kasule stated.

Buganda royal institute sports head promised continued participation in the tournament and also in other disciplines if created.
