University League: MUBS keeps pace with Nkumba

Two time Nile Special University Football League winners Makerere University Business School (MUBS) finished off the first round on a high note.

The Nakawa side beat debutants St Lawrence University at home to continue piling more pressure on Group C leaders Nkumba University.

Osman Miraje, Derrick Kyega and Lawrence Avule each struck for Charles Ayiekho side. MUBS who didn't make it out of the group stages last season are some of the title contenders. The second round is slated for August.

Both sides are joint top of the table with seven points but Nkumba has a better goal difference.

This year's league returned bigger and better with the number of participating teams increasing from 12 to 16 teams. The 16 participating universities are drawn into four groups of four each.
