Women's football: UCU Cardinals hit seven past London Stallion

Apr 06, 2017

The Cardinals continued with their winning streak.

Maureen Kinavudoli scored five goals as UCU Lady Cardinals beat London Stallion FC 7-0 at Kyambogo in the FUFA Women Elite League on Thursday.

Catherine Nakiride and Millicent Mwanzi also appeared on the score sheet in a dominant display on slippery ground after an afternoon downpour.

The Cardinals continued with their winning streak after eliminating Western United from the Women Uganda Cup last Saturday.

They will be in action again on Sunday in the league game against Western United as they look close in on table leaders Kawempe Moslem, who are seven points adrift on 16 points.

Kinavudoli scored four first-half goals as Cardinals exerted their dominance over a hapless Stallion side.

They returned to add another three goals, with Kinavudoli finding her fifth of the evening.

Stallion are yet to get a win this season and are currently rock-bottom with no points.

Their coach Hamidu Kasozi said his players were lacking experience and commitment against a well-organized team with good players.

"We managed to score seven goals because of the good training we had and the players' commitment," said Cradinals head coach Tony Membe.
