Milutin Sredejovic says he does not understand why Obua would forget his own weaknesses while he was still a player on the national team.

Not long after former Cranes player David Obua received widespread condemnation from fans for his uncomplimentary comments about Uganda Cranes' performance in Gabon, national team coach Milutin Sredejovic has also taken a swipe at the ex-Cranes player.

Obua was widely criticised for his comments about the Cranes performance following Uganda's one-nil loss to Ghana.

When asked about his opinion after Tuesday's game by the match-day moderator Robert Marawa, Obua said: "The structure was not there. I'll be honest with you. They (Uganda Cranes) were playing street football."

Uganda fell following a penalty strike by Ghana's Andre Ayew after Cranes' defender Isaac Isinde fouled a Ghanaian player in the box.

Milutin Sredejovic says he does not understand why Obua would forget his own weaknesses while he was still a player on the national team.

In a strongly worded twitter post on his account @michocoach, Sredejovic, also fondly known as Micho, said: "Perennial losers and failures with Uganda Cranes that never qualified for AFCON talk with jealousy same like Bodaboda driver dream&talk of Formula 1."

Obua was part of the Cranes team that on three different occasions failed narrowly to break the AFCON jinx, meaning Uganda's absence at the premier soccer event extended to 39 years.

The former midfielder for Scottish Premier League club, Hearts — now in retirement — is currently one of the commentators analyzing the African Nations Cup (AFCON) with South African sports broadcaster Supersport.

Uganda on Saturday faces Egypt in a must-win game. The latter is one point better, after drawing in the first match with Mali while Uganda lost their first match.
