Heathens out to extend lead at the helm
Jan 05, 2017
Heathens are five points clear at the top of the log while Kobs have 28 points.
Heathens rugby club coach Muhammad Athio is determined to win Friday's league fixture against rivals Kobs.
The two sides meet at Kyadondo Rugby Club in a top-of-the-league clash.
Heathens are five points clear at the top of the log on 33 points while second-placed Kobs have 28 points.
"We know Kobs have never been an easy side but just like we beat them 47-22 last season, we are out for a win again," Athio said.
Kobs are the league's defending champions while Heathens are Uganda Cup champions and both sides are well represented on the national team.
Heathens' backline has been boosted by the return Michael Wokorach, Lawrence Ssebuliba and last year's league top try scorer Philip Wokorach who have been away with the national 7s team in the Dubai 7s and Cape Town 7s tournaments respectively.
The trio join Cox Muhigwa and Kenneth Okong who were joint club top try scorers with five tries each.
When contacted, Kobs coach Edmond Tumusiime said his charges are ready for the challenge and that confidence in his camp is high.
Kobs boast of league top try scorers Michael Amolo and Keith Sseruyange, who will be joined by Ramathan Govule and Alhajji Manano who have also been with the national 7s team.
