Mubiru’s first task will be to guide Police further away from the relegation zone.

Coach Abdullah Mubiru (pictured) has been appointed head coach of Police FC on a three-year contract.

Mubiru was sacked by Vipers SC recently  along with two of his assistants George Nsimbe and John Luyinda after a 2-1 defeat to SC Villa in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

He has also previously coached defending champions KCCA FC.

He now joins Police with Luyinda and James Magala as his assistant and goalkeeping coach respectively.

Mubiru's first task when the second round of the top flight resumes in February will be to guide Police further away from the relegation zone.

They are currently in 13th place with 14 points.

In the 15 games they played in the first round, they managed to win a lowly three, drew five and lost seven.

Earlier, Sam Timbe resigned from Police before his assistant Angelo Lonyesi took over on interim basis.
