LIRA - The National Resistance Movement administrative secretary's office in Lira district has been locked up over rent arrears.

The fees amount to sh4,57,000, accumulated over the last 14 months, according to Moses Okello Oleng, the landlord.

After closing the office, Okello is considering taking legal action against the NRM party if no immediate action is taken by the Secretariat in Kampala.

He said he has often tried to reach the NRM headquarters to seek his money but to no fruition.

In his letter address to the administrator NRM Lira office, LRA RDC, and the district chairman, Okello says that party officials at the headquarters "no longer pick my phone calls".

He names Dr. Hassan Galiwangu, the finance and administrator and his accountant Aaron Kasamba.

So he decided to put the office under lock and key and insists he will reopen only after his money has been paid.

Kasamba acknowledged the closure of the premises and said they were given a five-day ultimatum prior.

He said they are looking to clearing the arears within this month.
