Maroons breeze past Kyambogo in a seven-goal thriller.

Maroons defeated Kyambogo 5-2 to open a five-point lead in the Elgon Group of the FUFA Big League.

The win put the former topflight side to 24 points, beyond second-placed Ndejje University who were not in action.

Solomon Walusimbi and Patrick Kaddu each had a double before Sydney Cheka added the other for Maroons.

Elsewhere, Kira United beat Simba 2-1  at Kira ground, Namugongo while Sporting United defeated Doves All Stars 1-0 at Lango Sports ground.

In the Rwenzori Group, leaders Masavu defeated Airtel Kitara 2-1 at Katabi ground, Entebbe while Mbarara City beat Synergy 1-0 at Kakyeka stadium.

Meanwhile, in the FUFA U-17 Junior League, Sadat Anaku put up a stellar performance when he guided KCCA FC Junior team to 2-1 victory over rivals Vipers SC Junior side.

Anaku netted a double as KCCA extended their lead in the Treble Group on 26 points, 12 and 13  above second and third placed Onduparaka and Vipers respectively. Gerald Kirya scored the consolation for Vipers.

KCCA are yet to lose a match in this competition this season.

This was a repeat of last season's final although Vipers managed to beat KCCA 4-1 in penalties after settling for a goalless draw to win the inaugural edition.
