Over 1000 participants have confirmed participation - in various disciplines - in this year's edition of the national urban council's sports gala.
The event that gets underway on Saturday at Soroti Sports Ground is aimed at identifying talent.
According to host town clerk Emmanuel Banya, the participants have been generated in all the 33 municipalities and 174 town councils in the country.
Banya says Soroti Municipality is set to host the event. Masindi municipality hosted the 2015 edition.
Soroti Municipality has set five handball pitches, basketball, volleyball courts and football pitches.
Paul Omer, the Soroti Municipal says they will also use the competition to educate urban dwellers on issues of HIV/AIDS.
During the five-day competition, the community will be receiving free HIV/AIDs testing and sensitization.
The weeklong event is expected to tick off on Sunday with an official opening ceremony at Soroti Municipal stadium.
