The MTN women in business award winners will be travelling to South Africa to meet business women who have achieved great success.

The purpose of the trip is to match them to like-minded business people, so they can gain skills that will help them improve their services.

"We wanted to give our winners an award that would impact their businesses in a meaningful way. This trip will expose them to best practices in SMEs in South Africa. Through this experience they we believe that they will harness knowledge, network and form partnerships," said Mapula Bodibe, the MTN chief marketing officer.

They will also take part in a technical skills training programme, from which they will acquire corporate governance and financial management skills, among others.

The MTN CEO, Wim Vanhelleputte, said there are millions of women in business who should be celebrated, from the ones who are running homes to those running businesses and particularly, the ones doing both.

He commended their hard work and sacrifice, adding that true development comes from women's participation in business.
