Pictures from Nakaseke district as new army recruits showcase their skills.

This week, President Yoweri Museveni passed out as many as 2,941 UPDF officres, warning tham to desist from bar brawls, which have lately been a spot of bother within the army and the public.

The fresh recruits, 355 of them females, swore an oath of allegiance to Museveni, the Commander-in-Chief, after undergoing rigorous military training for nine months at the Oliver Reginald Tambo Army School of Leadership Kaweweka in Nakaseke district.

The army had initially recruited 3,066 people from all over the country in Novemberlast year, but 125 dropped out for various reasons.

Museveni told the soldiers not to put their lives at risk with alcohol, prostitution and fighting in bars. He said if they do so, whatever they will have learnt from the training will have come to nothing.

Most of the fresh recruits were young and fresh university graduates and diploma holders, something that pleased the Commander-in-chief, who said the new young manpower was healthy for the army.
