Uganda is sending a team of 40 riders

FIM Africa Nations Motocross Championship

The national motocross team for the FIM Africa Nations Motocross Championship this weekend in Nairobi has said that they are fit and ready for the fight.

Team captain Maxime Van Pee assured the media on Wednesday before the team send-off at Lugogo by National Council of Sports (NCS) assistant secretary David Katende.

"We are strong and ready for the fight. I'm confident we shall get a podium finish but what I'm not sure of is position one, two or three," Maxime stated.

He also received sh7.5m from NCS assistant secretary as government's contribution to the team.

NCS secretary David Katende lauded the team and parents for the effort invested in the sport and urged them to go for a win.

"We as NCS are very proud of you and the parents who dig deep in their pockets to fund you. You are now Uganda, so be disciplined and work as a team for us to be victorious," Katende stated.

"We as NCS shall continue supporting motocross because you are actively involved in nurturing the young talents," Katende added.

"Let's be cautious of teammates on track, support us because your victory is more for Uganda and not individual," FMU vice president for motorcycling Ismail Balinda explained.

Uganda is sending a team of 40 riders in the 50cc juniors, 50cc, 65cc, 85cc, MX125, MX2, MX1 open class, Veterans, Masters and Ladies categories.
