Express head coach Alex Gitta has appointed Mike Mutyaba the team captain ahead of the upcoming season.

Mutyaba will be assisted by Isma Kazibwe and Yafesi Mubiru. Gitta believes the player will help the team produce better results.

"I have confidence in Mutyaba because he is a leader. He has been a proficient and outstanding player in the league and I expect much from him,''Gitta said.

Having helped Vipers SC win the Uganda Cup last season, Mutyaba has promised to guide Express in their hunt for trophies in the upcoming season which kicks off on Friday.

"I'm very comfortable with my former team that groomed me and let me promise that I shall put more efforts together with my fellow team mates to get good results" Mutyaba said.

"The most important thing is that I'm an Express supporter and I'm confident that Express is ready to face other competitors ahead of this season" he added.

The 26-year-old has played for several clubs such as Al-Merrikh from Sudan and TP Mazembe of DR Congo.

A month ago, he was released by Vipers alongside John Semazzi and Allan Kyambade who also joined Express.
