Police has assured drivers and riders that traffic operations on various roads across the country are to resume come on August 16.
While addressing the media on Monday, the deputy police spokesperson, Polly Namaye said that these operations are going to target reckless drivers, excess loads, those without third party insurance and vehicles in dangerous mechanical conditions.
"This is a reminder to all motorcyclists and drivers that they are to be apprehended if by August 16, they are found not to be bidding by the traffic and road safety," Namaye said.
She said that even those without driving permits will be netted in the operations.
The warning drums come after a meeting held between Police and leaders of Boda boda at Nsambya sharing hall on July 25 where a resolution that all cyclists must obtain driving permits not later than August 16 was made.
The deputy police spokesperson used the same platform to caution drivers and riders to practice safety driving in these rainy seasons,
"Police also encourages drivers to drive safely especially now that the rains have started and many of the roads have become slippery during rainy seasons," Namaye cautioned.
