He has made a lot of sacrifices to get there but it has not been easy for Joseph Ochaya who is likely to join South African side Bidvest Wits.

The KCCA FC left back is expected to leave the country on Wednesday ahead of trials with the PSL side from August 3rd to 20th.

"Every Ugandan footballer is always delighted when he is given a chance to go for trials in another club outside his country. I believe I will work hard to achieve my goal," Ochaya stated.

KCCA FC chairman Julius Kabugo is also delighted by the move.

"We received an invitation and the air ticket for Ochaya to leave for trials. At the moment we are working on his visa documents," Kabugo added.

If Ochaya moves to Bidvest Wits it won't his first time play outside Uganda.

He left KCCA in 2012 for Ghana's Asante Kotoko where he featured for close to two seasons before falling out with the club in 2014.

The matter was later referred to FIFA that granted him permission to re-join his former club.

Ochaya also became the first Ugandan player to feature for a team in Ghana.

In 1999, there were attempts by Hearts of Oak to sign SC Villa's Hakim Magumba but the deal never materialized.

If he succeeds he will join other Ugandan players who are featuring for different clubs in South Africa.

These include Cranes captain Geoffrey Massa who plays for Bloemfontein Celtics, Denis Onyango of reigning league champions, Mamelodi Sundowns among others.
