By the end of the disbursement 59 farmers will have received the cows in the 31 parishes of the district

Forty one farmers in Ibanda district have received heifers under the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) program to increase their household income.

By the end of the disbursement before the beginning of September, 59 farmers will have received the Friesian cows in the 31 parishes of the whole district according to Maj. Jackson Batume, the OWC coordinator in the district.

While handing over heifers to the benefactors at Ibanda municipal officials on Monday Maj. Batume urged farmers to take good care of the cattle given to them since they will exclusively enjoy all the benefits at the end of the day.

"We expect you to take good necessary care of these animals by spraying them often and to feed  them well  since at the end day benefits will belong at you as a family or as an individual" Maj. Batume noted.

"I therefore don't expect you to take these cows for bride price, slaughtering them for parties neither to give them to your friends as gifts." Maj. Batume added.

Furidah Asiimwe a resident of Kyaruhanga Ward in Kagongo division says she expects to gain from the heifer given to her by getting money from the milk so that she can pay school fees for her children.

"Am grateful for the government for it has fulfilled its promise of delivering me from poverty. Rearing has been part of my passion from my childhood; I don't expect to disappoint the government that has entrusted me" Asiimwe added.
