Eight members confirm Cecafa participation

They include; Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Sudan. Eritrea, Zanzibar and Djibouti are yet to confirm participation.

Eight countries including Uganda have confirmed participation in the inaugural regional CECAFA senior women championships due in Kampala, September 2016.

They include; Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Sudan. Eritrea, Zanzibar and Djibouti are yet to confirm participation.

Uganda women national team-coach Majidah Nantanda has called a squad of 26 including Denmark based striker Shirazi Natasha to start training for the games at Philip Omondi Stadium Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Uganda will head to Kisumu on Friday and play an international friendly against Kenya on Sunday.

FUFA explained that the game will serve as preparations for CECAFA championship.
