The initiative is aimed at imparting life skills, health and wellness using basketball

After opening strongly in the National Basketball League, where they are 6-1 and joint top with the KCCA Leopards in the women's division; A-1 Challenge took time off over the weekend to revive their schools outreach program in Nebbi district.

The program is designed to inspire the Girl Child to enhance a better life, education, a life of empowerment and embrace achieving their dreams and becoming role models within their communities and societies.

According to A-1 Challenge PRO Carol Kisukye, it is also aimed at imparting life skills, health and wellness using basketball as a vehicle of communication.

"It is our primary mandate of developing the Girl Child in a positive direction for success in education, sports, and life in general; A1 challenge ladies believe that sport & physical activity programs aimed at girls and women foster empowerment and gender equity," Kisukye stated.

Nyaravur Secondary School girls were the beneficiaries this time and received more lectures about their bodies and the importance of physical fitness from the A-1 Challenge ladies basketball team members.

A three-hour basketball developmental session led by team captain Vicky Ntale tipped off the sessions with the girls receiving tips on dribbling, passing, shooting and footwork.

A health talk on cholera and sanitation awareness led by team player Barbara Okot proceeded the basketball session, as the life skills session on how to use Afri-pads conducted by team manager Carol Kisukye took center stage at mid-day before an exhibition game between the Nyaravur girls basketball team.

The exciting basketball game witnessed crossovers, jab-step moves, rebounding prowess speed and defensive strength from the Nyaravur girls' team; attributes that got the gathered crowd on their toes and applauding.

There was more for the girls as they received donations including clothes, shoes, and basketball kits from the A1 Challenge ladies, basketball hoops and nets from UNICEF, basketballs from FUBA and and Afri-pads from Afri-pads Uganda.

The A-1 Challenge ladies basketball club's outreach program to Nebbi district was supported by Afri-pads, Unicef,  Fuba and powered by Kinetic Management Group.
