A full strength Sky VC eased to the title with minimal opposition beating Uganda Christian University in straight sets in the final.

"With our main opponents (Nemostars and Sport-S) away in Rwanda, we would be belittled if we lost especially because we have our top players here," Kato said.

Sky VC which for some reason failed to travel to Kigali, settled for Nkumba Open together with UCU, Nkumba, KCCA and KAVC who are ranked far below them in strength.

Men's defending champions Nkumba fell to KAVC in the quarterfinals while women 2015 winners VVC were in Kigali for the Rwanda Genocide Cup.

In the women's category, a youthful Nkumba Navy side overcame UCU 3-1 to win their own championship.
