Transporting the body began on Thursday evening

Preparations for the burial of Abel Dhaira are underway after the family revealed that the body will arrive on Saturday evening on a Turkish Airlines flight.

Dhaira succumbed to abdominal cancer on Easter Sunday in Iceland where he was playing professional football.

The function's secretary Faisal Mayemba revealed that transporting the body began on Thursday evening.

''The body is moving via Turkish Airline from Iceland, Amsterdam, then Paris to Istanbul from where it will connect to Entebbe on Saturday evening or Sunday morning" Mayembe said adding that Dhaira will be laid to rest on Tuesday.

"From there the family will have a closed meeting as we prepare for the venues that we shall use for people to pay their last respects before the final journey to Mayuge where the burial will take place" he added.

Dhaira will be remembered for his penalty saves at both Express FC (Uganda Cup 4-2 victory over KCCA FC in 2006) and for the CECAFA Cup triumph in Tanzania.
