World football governing body FIFA has approved the laying of artificial turf at KCCA FC's home grounds in Lugogo.

This was confirmed by FUFA spokesperson Ahmed Hussein today at The Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

"A few days ago, FIFA official Stephen Baker inspected the project and promise to give report that will able work to continue. Yesterday he sent the report that permitted Edel Grass Company (contractors) to start laying of the turf" Hussein stated.

He added that by the end of February contactors will hand over the stadium to KCCA FC and FUFA.

The project estimated to cost sh1.3b had KCCA also pay all the taxes worth sh320m for the necessary equipment.

FIFA gave the aid project to Uganda through the FIFA Challenger Project that will see several countries have an artificial turf pitch in a bid to develop the sport in partner countries.

The artificial turf will be the second such playing surface in Uganda after Njeru Technical center in Jinja. The club management plans to install floodlights at the same venue.
