Tororo woman kills husband over sh1000

A 50-year-old woman has been arrested by Tororo police in connection to the murder of her husband over sh1000.

Joninah Iseren a resident of Akoret Village in Mukuju Sub County is alleged to have used a pounding stick against John Omangat, 65, on Sunday afternoon after the latter had spent her sh1000.

Domisiano Ochieng Oneko the deceased's elder brother said the duo picked a quarrel at around 2.00pm before the fight broke out.

Oneko said the suspect had given her husband sh5000 to go and save sh2000 in the local village savings group and return the balance but the husband used sh 1000 for local brew and returned home with only sh2000.

Michael Odongo the police spokesperson for Bukedi region confirmed the incident saying the suspect has been transferred to Tororo central police station where a murder charge has been preferred against her.

Odongo said the post-mortem report indicate the victim died of internal bleeding.
