Referee Mark Ssonko for AFCON U-23

Ugandan FIFA assistant referee Mark Ssonko has landed an appointment to handle the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal.

Ugandan FIFA assistant referee Mark Ssonko has landed an appointment to handle the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal.


Ssonko is part of the ten referees and 13 assistant referees, who have been chosen to officiate at the two-week competition between November

28 and December 12.

The appointment is Ssonko’s second biggest after he went for the 2014 CHAN finals in Sudan.

The competition has South Africa, Tunisia and Zambia whilst Algeria, Egypt, Mali and Nigeria competing in two cities namely Dakar and M’Bour.

The top three teams will qualify to represent Africa at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Ssonko is currently in Tunis with referees Denis Batte, Balikoowa Musa and Mashood Ssali to handle the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Qualifier between Tunisia and Mauritania.
