In a bid to attain international status, kickboxer Titus Tugume has taken on a title challenge outside the country.

Tugume, a UPDF soldier who has been training at Auto Spa Gym, travelled Wednesday to Budapest to challenge for the vacant WKF International title against home boy Szabo Sandor.

It will be a full contact contest.

“I have been training at the Fusion Auto Spa Gym, my sponsors for two months now. I want to show my fans that despite losing to Moses Golola in August 2013, I can put up a good show even outside the country,” Tugume said after training.

He said despite the little experience of seven fights winning six (3 TKO’s) and losing one, he has a big amateur record that qualifies
him for international contests.

Tugume is therefore confident of winning a title outside his home country because of the vast experience in the amateur ranks.

He has ever beaten Sandor on points on March 26, 2013 in Mbarara.

“I am happy the rematch will yield a title belt for me,” Tugume (top) added.

In a related development, the martial arts fighter has asked the Uganda Kickboxing Federation not to honour Golola’s retirement before the two get a re-match.

“I have heard that Golola is planning to retire from active fighting. But I want to tell the whole world that we have an unfinished deal with him. I want to show my fans that he took the belt by mistake,” Tugume stated.
