Lady Rugby Cranes ready for Olympic qualifiers

The Lady Rugby Cranes 7s team strength and conditioning coach is confident her charges will deliver good results in the Africa Olympic qualifiers starting Saturday in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Lady Rugby Cranes 7s team strength and conditioning coach is confident her charges will deliver good results in the Africa Olympic qualifiers starting Saturday in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Helen Buteme said before she left for South Africa on Wednesday night that her players are strong enough to counter the expected physical approach of their opponents.

“We worked on the strength side and I think we are physical enough to take on any team,” Buteme stated.

The Lady Rugby Cranes open their Olympic qualifying campaign tomorrow against the burly Zimbabweans, then take on Namibia and Zambia before ending the group stages with hosts South Africa in Pool A.

The top two finishers in Pool A and Pool B, will meet in the knockout stages with the winner of the tournament qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Pool B has Kenya Tunisia, Madagascar, Senegal and Botswana in the group stages.

The lady Cranes Squad include, Brenda Kayiyi, Charloote Mudoola, Charity Atimango, Grace Auma, Clare Anena, Emma Oroma, Hilda Nyaruhugira,Harriet Kayonjo and Mary Choita.
