Somalia condemns attack on AMISOM base

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Kampala, has condemned the Al-shaabab suicide attack on Tuesday that claimed 10 Ugandan peacekeepers and 46 militants.

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Kampala, has condemned  the Al-shaabab suicide attack on Tuesday that claimed 10  Ugandan  peacekeepers and 46 militants.

State minister for Defence, Lt. Gen Jeje Odong told parliament on Thursday that two of the  alshabaab fighters were captured.

The dawn attack took place at the AMISOM base in Jinaale, Lower Shebelle Region.

“We strongly condemn this cowardly and barbaric act whose sole intention is to threaten and undermine the logic of peace and democracy in Somalia, as it is being championed by Uganda soldiers and leadership,” the condolence message reads.

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Kampala, Uganda, presents its compliments, and that of to the Government of the Republic Uganda, and, on behalf of the Federal Government and the people of Somalia - most especially the resident Somali Community in Uganda; regret with deep sorrow, the tragic loss of lives of the gallant soldiers of Uganda [and AMISOM as a whole], that occurred on the fateful day of 1st September 2015, in Jinaale, Lower Shebelle Region at the hands of Al-Shabab banditry. We strongly condemn this cowardly and barbaric act – whose sole intention is to threaten and undermine the logic of peace and democracy in Somalia, as it is being championed by Uganda soldiers and leadership.

We extend our sincere condolences and sympathy; to the Government of Uganda, and to H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the families of the victims of the tragic bombing, and the entire populace of Uganda. We understand the pain and loss the entire nation is experiencing because of this inhuman act!

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia once again; CONDEMNS this barbaric act against humanity in the strongest terms, and reiterates its total and unreserved support to the Government and people of Uganda in the struggle aimed at eliminating lawlessness in Somalia and the region – through defeating the negative elements of Al-Shabab and their collaborators.
