UWONET executive director arrested

Rita Aciro Lakor the Executive Director of Uganda Women's Network (UWONET) has been arrested by the police from the office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Gender, Pius Bigirimana.

Rita Aciro Lakor the Executive Director of Uganda Women's Network (UWONET) has been arrested by the police from the office of the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Gender, Pius Bigirimana.
 
According to one of her close friends Sheila Kawamara,  Aciro had gone to the Ministry to attend a Steering Committee meeting on the UNWOMEN Joint programme on Gender equality.
 
“We have tried to trace for her in all the nearby station but she is not there,” Kawamara in an interview with New Vision said.
UWONET is among the many women organizations that rejected Bigirimina's positing to the Gender Ministry as Permanent Secretary after he was accused of causing financial loss in the Prime Minister's office
