ABIDJAN - Chelsea's Cameroonian international striker Samuel Eto'o on Thursday branded manager Jose Mourinho "a fool" after the Portuguese coach called his age into question.

Mourinho made headlines two months ago when he suggested in a private conversation that the Cameroonian may be older than he claims.

"I am 33 years old. And it is not because a fool called me an old man that you must believe it," Eto'o told the Ivorian press on the sidelines of a youth football tournament in Bouake.

"And you may have noticed that the old man was better than the youngsters," he added.

Mourinho told a Swiss businessman before the Cameroonian celebrated his 33rd birthday in March: "The problem with Chelsea is we lack a striker. I have one (Eto'o), but he's 32. Maybe 35. Who knows?"

Eto'o seemed to take Mourhino's comments in his stride at the time, mimicking an old man as he limped to a corner flag after scoring against Tottenham Hotspur.

"Contrary to what he says about my age, I'm still in good shape. At 33 years I still feel good," he said.

"And I also want to say that I will not take refuge in the United States or the Middle East. I will continue at the top level. I want to continue to play the Champions League, but I will not tell you with what club.

"I'm counting on playing the next two World Cups, there is one who played until he was 42 years old (Note: his compatriot Roger Milla during the 1994 World Cup in the United States)."
