12 time champions NIC walloped fellow Ugandan side Prisons 52-27 to go top of Pool A table at the ongoing East Africa Netball Club Championships in Dar es salaam on Tuesday.
The two teams travelled in the same bus to Tanzania for the 14th edition of the annual event but this didn’t stop the players from showcasing their local rivalry at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
NIC’s usual dependable shooter Peace Proscovia assisted by goal attacker Hadijjah Nakabuye played a major role in gifting their side an impressive start on their way to a 21-14 half time lead.
NIC dominance continued in the second half even after goal attacker Rachael Nanyonga and center Suzan Mukala replaced Nakabuye and Lukia Memme to refresh the side.

NIC’s three victories see them top Pool A with 6 points while rivals Prisons also qualify for the quarters after finishing on 4 points in second place.
Prisons’ dependables Florence Amono and Flavia Amono jointly contributed 27 goals for the warders.
Today’s fixture will determine which opponents the two Ugandan clubs NIC and Prisons will be facing in the quarter finals scheduled for tomorrow at the same venue.
In the other women’s contest Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) narrowly beat Mafunzo from Zanzibar in a tight Pool B game that ended 37-36 earlier in the day.
Uganda’s only men’s team Kampala University (KU) managed to secure a slot in the quarters after beating Kazaroho from Tanzania 46-26.
