PLE exams start

A total of 582,085 candidates, 457,071 of who are from Universal Primary Education (UPE) are sitting for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

 A total of 582,085 candidates, 457,071 of who are from Universal Primary Education (UPE) are sitting for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).


 The candidates are writing mathematics examination in the morning (Monday) and social studies in the afternoon.

  Tomorrow (Tuesday) the candidates will sit for integrated science in the morning and English in the evening.

Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has deployed 8,400 scouts, most of them security officers, to avert cheating.

 The scouts include Police officers and others from the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) who will be operating undercover.

 There has been an increase of 16,422 candidates from the number that sat PLE last year.

 UNEB secretary Mathew Bukenya asked head teachers, school proprietors and parents to desist from examination malpractices, warning that tough action will be taken against the perpetrators.
