Security officials have asked the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) to expeditiously handle clearance of cargo at the border points to avoid delays.

Tororo resident district commissioner Damulira Kyeyune said URA should ensure that there is no pile up of trucks at the border to avoid terror attacks.

He was speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting to find lasting solutions for non-tariff barriers on the northern corridor at Malaba town council offices last week.

The meeting was attended by clearing and forwarding agents and leaders from Malaba town council. There is normally a huge traffic jam caused by trucks at Malaba border, making movement through the border by other motorists difficult
