A city architect, Amos Kamulegeya, 38, was murdered on Monday night in what appeared to be a premeditated plot.

The young successful architect, a resident of Kawempe – Kirokole was hit by two bullets in the stomach when his assailant shot through the metallic door. The thugs, who had demanded Kamulegeya to open for them shot through the door when he refused.

The thugs took nothing from the home though it appeared disorganized like they had been searching for something. Last week, thugs raided the architect's home and stole a laptop from the house leaving behind several other valuable items.

On the same day, daring gunmen shot and injured two cops in broad day light after they duped them that they needed their assistance to arrest two suspects along Wampewo Avenue.

The Kampala Central Police Station boss, James Ruhweza, said the two cops had been stationed at Dewinton road mid-morning when two men riding on a bodaboda approached them.

The two cops then hired a bodaboda and followed the two men towards Wampewo. However intuition got the better of one of the cops who became suspicious and ordered the bodaboda riders to stop.

As fate would have it, the man seated at the back of the bodaboda hopped off and swiftly drew a pistol before leveling it at the cop identified as Tonny Omara and shooting him, grievously injuring him in the head.

One of the bullets ripped through his jaw and his toungue was hanging loose out of his mouth by the time they arrived at Mulago hospital where he was rushed. The gunman also took Omara's gun.

The second cop escaped the ordeal with minor injuries as he was quick enough to take cover in a nearby drainage channel.

The gunmen later fled on  the bodaboda towards Luzira as horrified onlookers watched in fright. Ruhweza said police are hunting for the assailants as Omara undergoes treatment at Mulago hospital.

Omara was yesterday rushed to the theatre on arrival at the hospital as he was in bad shape.
