The best kid athletes are from Pader district

Pader district has been crowned champions of the 2015 national kid’s athletics that ended on Friday at Lango College in Lira Municipality.

Pader district has been crowned champions of the 2015 national kid’s athletics that ended on Friday at Lango College in Lira Municipality.

Pader obtained 912 points in all categories of children — under 12, 14 and 16, having excelled among the competition categories of athletes with physical, hearing, visual, learning impairment and those in the normal category.

Lamwo district came second with 797 points followed by Gulu in the third position (583) while Kalangala (565), Gulu (324), Kabarole (196), Serere (153), Kampala (143) and Jinja (89) followed respectively.

The games which kicked off on Thursday, April 30 were closed by Lira district chairperson, Alex Oremo who thanked the teams for participation.

Eighty-nine districts took part in this year’s event compared to the 102 that participated last year in Soroti.

The chairperson Uganda Primary Schools Sports and Games Association Martin Okello said that, majority of teams from Karamoja, Lango and Acholi failed to attend because their main financial backers UNICEF had withdrawn.
