Jul 05, 2013

Meet Ugandan-born, Leslie “Lee” Kasumba, who will be one of the judges for the awards.

The upcoming Club Music Video Awards, which are set to be a benchmark in the music industry, will for the first time, pit Ugandan music videos, relevant artistes and videographers against each other to establish the ultimate Ugandan music videos.

There are up to 14 categories, including Male and Female Video of the year, Collaboration of the Year and the Best Duo or Group, among others. To get the task done, a panel of capable judges has been picked.

Meet Ugandan-born, Leslie “Lee” Kasumba, who will be one of the judges for the awards. But what does she bring to the table? Well, Kasumba is the manager at Channel O Africa, a dedicated afrocentrc music channel, which has kept on raising the bar for continental music.

A Ugandanborn music lover, with extensive experience in the African music industry, Kasumba holds a bachelor’s degree in dramatic arts from Wits University and started working at YFM, as a DJ, producer and magazine editor at the biggest youth station in South Africa at only 19 years of age.

Kasumba has done a lot of work for the UN, MTV and Channel O, hosted and facilitated the Live 8 music concert, presented the keynote address to the UN at the Global African Hip-hop summit and interviewed the biggest artistes in world music.

Obviously, it was not a bluff when they said that the awards would be the greatest in Uganda’s entertainment industry in scale of production, credibility, professionalism and global
standards.

Kasumba will bring in the knowledge and clout needed to make the right choices in what is definitely a highly contested feat. The finale is set for September
20, this year.
