The Goodlyfe Crew boys left Uganda Wednesday night for California, US where they are set to attend this year’s BET Awards at Staples center, Los Angeles.

The crew was nominated for the best international act; Africa and are competing with five other artistes from Nigeria, South Africa and Ghana but the crew’ lead vocalist Mowzey Radio is optimistic they will bring the accolade home. The awards take place this Sunday

“Well, it is no accident that we were nominated and therefore it will be no surprise to bring the award home. We ask our fans to pray for us and make this country proud,” said Radio shortly before leaving the country.

They are the first Ugandan artistes to ever been nominated for the prestigious awards.

There were reports that the boys struggled to secure visas for the past two weeks but they rubbished this saying they cannot struggle to get visas at their level.

The Gudlyfe crew is battling with Nigeria artistes 2Face Idibia and Ice Prince, South Africa’s Donald and Toya Delazy and Ghana’s duo R2bees.

Their successful ‘Obudde’ album which includes songs like Fantastic, Magnetic and lead song Obudde is the reason why they were nominated.

The boys bragged on tweeter; “Off to California for the BET awards...well-wishers and our fans pray we bring it back home..haters also hate but we still made it…….”

We hope our boys make us proud by bringing the award home.
